As you can see, I've changed my background and picture's. I thought my blog needed some "cheering up". Sometimes we all need a little "cheering up"!
Hope it "brightens" your day! :-)
ps, sorry the pictures aren't the best quality! We'll take some new pics at the beach soon and I'll update these.

It's the little things....
Ok, I know I'm way behind in updating my blog! We've been busy around here lately! I have several posts I need to do such as, the two baby showers I helped give last Saturday, our trip to Alabama, potty training, etc! That's right, you read it correctly....potty training!!!
I'm the one who's been holding back on potty training (or as some childcare "experts" like to call it now..."toilet learning"). I'm fine with diapers, they are easy, no worries of accidents, & you don't have to run to every public restroom in the state! :-) But, it was time, I knew he was getting close to being ready, and so was I. And I wanted to start in the summer, b/c I knew it would be easier, so I bit the bullet and we started on Monday. He has done really well, I've been pleasantly surprised! I went with the "Supernanny" approach of no pull-ups. I have pull-ups, and we've been using them at night and on trips outside the home, but he hasn't had an accident in them, so he's now in regular underwear! He even woke me up last night at 2:45am and said he needed to go "pp". So, we went "pp" and went right back to sleep! (at least he went back to sleep, I didn't until 5:15am!! I don't do well once I get woke up, I have trouble going back to sleep!)
Today we had playgroup at a friends house, and I actually put him in big boy underwear....no pull-ups! He told me when he needed to go, and he went! No accidents! YAY!! (I'm knocking on wood as I type!! LOL )
One thing that's bothering me is that he hasn't went #2 since Tuesday!! He went fine 3 times on the potty, but hasn't wanted to since?? Some friends told me not to worry, this will come when he's ready. We'll see! I'll update again next week on how it's going! I know you'll all be sitting on the edge of your seats in anticipation!! HAHA :-)
Ok, so this post has actually been on potty training...sorry, it was supposed to be on the "little things" in life that make us happy! And potty training is actually a BIG thing in my life that has made me happy! Nathan and I have done much better than I thought we would!! :-) I have prayed for patience all week, and it's worked!
So now for a couple of the "little things". Nathan asked me yesterday if we could bake a cake. I love to bake cakes, so of course I said yes! We baked a strawberry cake w/ strawberry icing. He helped break the eggs, and hold the mixer as I turned the bowl. And he helped spread the icing. We both had a fun time!
I also got my new cookbook in the mail that I ordered from my college sorority alumnae chapter! It's awesome! I'll post pics soon! I have already made 3 recipes from it!!
One more "little thing". Nathan wanted to eat lunch outside on the patio table yesterday, he always says we're having a "picnic" when we do this. I love to eat outside too, so this is always fine with me, unless it's raining. I gave him a peanut butter & jelly sandwich and some cantaloupe. He ate every bite, and then he looked up at me and said, "thanks mommy, that was the best lunch"! It was just so sweet the way he said it!
I'm off to nap (gotta catch up on the sleep I missed out on last night), I'll post more soon!!

summer lovin'
Ok, some things I'm loving about summer right now. The fact that I booked our BEACH vacation yesterday!!!!! YAY!!! I'm sooo in need of a vacation! It will be just the three of us headed to Orange Beach in July......can't wait!! It will be a mixture of a family vacation and our 10 yr. anniversary trip. Never fear, we're going to do something, just the two of us, on our actual anniversary. :-)
I'm also lovin' the new inflattable pool I bought for Nathan (and myself, ha)! I, however, didn't love the pumping up part of it?? I had never used a hand pump before, so I bought this $4.00 hand pump to pump up the, what I thought was a small, pool. I was sore the next day because it took me 1 1/2 hrs to pump this thing up??!! I laid it out in my living room floor (b/c it was too hot to pump it up outside!!) and started pumping away. Nathan was so excited, he could barely wait til I got it pumped up! I had to put in a movie for him b/c he kept saying, "is it done yet???" Poor guy, he then had to wait til I filled it up, which took forever as well. He got in as soon as I got a drop of water in it and he started playing. We've been in it ever since! It's a great size, not too big for him, but big enough for me to lounge in while getting some sun! :-)
I'm also loving the fact that I get to go to AL next week to help give one of my best friends a baby shower!! It has been a long road for her and her husband to get to this point, I'm so happy for them! I can't wait to see a lot of people that I don't get to see often.
Some things I'm not lovin' right now:
1) Nathan putting his cards from chic-fil-A in my third brake light, and getting them stuck there!! I tried everything to get them out, but didn't suceed. I drove around for a week w/ ladybug playing cards in my brake light...it looked very silly! I'm sure my neighbors wondered why I was staring at the back of my car and yelling!! LOL
(luckily my sweet husband figured out a way to get them out finally!!)
2) I'm not lovin' that my vacuum cleaner broke today.....right after I sprinkled carpet fresh on my carpets. This was probably the 10th time it's broken, so I loaded Nathan up and we went to Target and bought a new vacuum......which I'm lovin'!

COMING SOON.....

OK, so I went to see THE "Sex and the City" movie last night with my friends from the MOMS club, it was our "moms night out". We had a wonderful time, we laughed so hard we cried! We also just cried at times....not because we were laughing. The movie was fabulous! I won't post about it because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I was a faithful "Sex and the City" follower, and cried the entire last season everytime I watched the show, b/c I knew it was ending! I love to watch the reruns, but the movie was the icing on the cake! Go see it!
There are certain shows on TV that I have loved and felt like when they ended it was the "end of an era"....and it was. Some of those shows include, Sex & the City, Beverly Hills 90210, NYPD Blue, Friends, etc.
(BTW...I'm super excited about the new show coming in the fall on the CW channel that is a spin-off of 90210!!!)
NOW, about the title of this post! For all of you that know me and have read my blog, you know I LOVE Nicholas Sparks. Last night as I was watching the preview of an upcoming movie, I was thinking, "this is a book I've read". I kept watching and thinking to myself, (I actually think I said it out loud several times), I know this movie...it's a book that I loved! And sure enough, it was a Nicholas Sparks book, "Nights in Rodanthe". I really loved this book. I remember it started kinda slow for me, but ended up being great!
Some of his other books that have been turned into movies are: "The Notebook", "Message in a Bottle", & "A Walk to Remember".
The movie is due out in October 08'. It looked great in the previews! In October, you'll find me at the movie theatre!
